How to Jumpstart Your New Exercise Regimen

By admin / August 26, 2021

So, you want to start a completely new exercise regimen? That’s great! Making this decision already shows that you want to pursue self-improvement. Whether you’re looking to get washboard abs or you just want to improve your circulatory system, exercising is the way to do it. However, saying you’re going to exercise is one thing; actually following through is something else entirely.

Many people struggle to start exercising because it is such an easy activity to put off. There’s usually something more entertaining and less physically strenuous to do. Why exercise when you can binge-watch your favorite TV show, for example? Unfortunately, this mindset causes millions of people to delay or even forego exercise entirely. So, in today’s post, we are going to offer a few tips to help you jumpstart your new exercise regimen!

Create an Exercise Schedule

Nowadays, most people have to compartmentalize their lives and their time. You’ve probably got a calendar full of deadlines, tasks, and future events. So, why not add exercise to the mix? By setting aside certain days and/or times for exercise, you make it an official part of your life. It’s especially helpful to set reminders on your phone or computer. This way, you literally have an app telling you when it is time to start working out!

Get the Right Workout Accessories

When people hear or read the term “exercise,” they often think of heavy dumbbells or complex machinery. Fortunately, if you just want to exercise at home in your free time, you don’t necessarily need any of this. It all depends on how and where you want to work out. If you choose to go to a gym, most of the equipment will be provided for you.

Even if you work out at home, you can easily do cardio and similar exercises without any special items. That said, you will need the right shoes and comfortable clothing. Footwear is particularly important, as ill-fitting shoes can lead to issues like bunions, in which case you might have to reach out to the experts at Northwest Surgery Center for treatment!

Join or Create an Exercise Group

Sometimes, it’s easier to do an activity if you have other people cheering you on. You don’t need to assemble a team of personal trainers to get started; even a few friends will do! By having a group of like-minded individuals, you can socialize and work out at the same time. This helps alleviate some of the physical barriers that may be holding you back. If you don’t have any friends who are interested in working out, you can always join a class at your local gym!

Focus On Your Goals

One of the main reasons people put off exercise is the thought of physical exertion. People simply feel too tired or lazy to get up and move! This isn’t a weakness, but simply a mentality that focuses on the negatives rather than the positives. So, try to focus on your goals. What do you hope to accomplish with your new exercise regimen? By thinking about what you could accomplish with exercise, you’re more likely to find the motivation to get started!
