If you are considering going scuba diving in Dubai then you won’t regret your decision, it’s an experience of a lifetime that most people will never have the chance of having. However, if you are going out to sea, then you will need what’s called a certificate from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) to demonstrate that you are ‘qualified’ to do the dive you want to do;
Divemaster scuba diver
The Divemaster scuba diver rating positions you in an elite club of divers with extensive diving training and expertise, its rating is only attained by about 2% of recreational divers and is considered the pinnacle of recreational diving in the PADI universe.
Rescue diver
The rescue diver course takes two to three days to complete and includes theory, a pool session, and open water training somewhere like scuba diving in Dubai. This training will teach you how to self-rescue, recognize and manage stress in other divers, manage emergencies and equipment, and rescue scared and unresponsive divers.
Advanced open water diver
The advanced open water diver course lasts two days and includes five dives, you’ll do five training dives on five different skill sets. The following two dives are required, a deep dive as well as an underwater navigation dive which are included. Then three more from a given list and, although there is some theory, it is not nearly as extensive as the open water course. Each of the 5 subject dives will need you to complete the 5 Knowledge reviews.
Specialty diver
There are a number of specialty diver courses available, including digital underwater imaging, deep diving, underwater navigation, NITROX, and search and recovery, to mention but a few. The majority of tasks can be accomplished in one or two days.
Open water diver
This is the first course whereby you can call yourself a diver after completing it. With online eLearning tech to help you succeed, the term can be finished in 3-4 days. You’ll be able to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters with a buddy, or guide in identical conditions if you’ve completed the open water diver training.
Scuba diver
This is a beginner’s course. With some online eLearning, the scuba diving course can be finished in two days. After completing the course, you will be able to dive with a PADI certified guide to a maximum depth of 12 meters.
Discover scuba diving
This entry level course is a one-day PADI program that will give you the opportunity to scuba dive safely to a depth of 12 meters. It does not lead to a certification, but it can be applied toward your first open water certification, whether it be a Scuba Diver or an Open Water Diver. This is ideal for individuals who want to discover what it’s like to breathe underwater and experience what it’s all about.
Which one to go for?
The choice is entirely up to you although, bear in mind that the more advanced courses require you to have already done some of the more basic courses. However keen you might be, it is probably a good idea to start with the Discover Scuba Diving course.
