Indicia, along with Sativa, are the most popular strains, but the effects are different. Indica strains have high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. This strain is associated with sedentary effects, known as couch-lock. Indica is also known to be the best cannabis for proper sleep.
Indica is named for its botanical origins near the Caucasus Indicus mountains.
From the root word ruderal, which means a species grown despite an area prone to disturbances, this strain comes from indica genetics that adjusted to harsh climates and shorter growing seasons. This cannabis strain is native to Asia, Central, and Eastern Europe, and specifically Russia.
Unlike the other two strains, Ruderalis does not undergo activation by the photoperiod and instead flowers between 21 and 30 days after planting. As a result, this strain also has low concentrations of THC.
