By admin / March 18, 2022

As the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, Broadway’s audience numbers are bouncing back. And, many people are getting to see a Broadway show for the very first time!

Are you planning on seeing your first Broadway show? Keep reading to find out how to have the best time on Broadway.

1. Choose The Right Show

There are lots of different Broadway shows playing at any given time. So, you’ll want to choose the right one, particularly if you’re short on time or have a limited budget. Look at reviews for different shows. If you have friends who have recently seen a Broadway show, ask for recommendations.

Then, it’ll simply be time to buy your tickets. Have a look here and see if there’s anything on offer for you. Always buy tickets from a reputable source. You don’t want to end up with fraudulent tickets.

Of course, you could always take the TKTS route if you want cheaper tickets. But, this will be time-consuming, since you’ll have to get in line, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll get tickets for the show you want.

2. Check the Addresses

Now that you have the tickets for your first Broadway show, you need to make sure that you actually know where you’re going. There’s more than one theater, after all.

Plus, Broadway is a bustling area. So, not only do you need to make sure that you know where you’re going, but you need to make sure that you’ll be able to get there early.

Plot out different routes, and give yourself plenty of time. You should aim to be at the theater at least a half-hour before the show starts.

3. Dress Right

You might be worried when you’re thinking about what to wear to a Broadway show. Within reason, the answer is anything you want! It might be a more formal occasion if you’re attending opening night.

But otherwise, you’re welcome to dress as fits the time of day and the season. You probably won’t want to go too formal with your Broadway show attire if you see a matinee—but hey, it’s New York!

4. Know What To Expect

You may also want to know what to expect once you get to the theater. One major thing that most people don’t think about is the bathroom situation.

There are very few bathrooms in Broadway theaters, which tends to cause huge lineups at intermission and after the show—particularly for women. So, if you don’t want to wait in line for ages, you may want to try and go before.

There are beverages available for purchase, but not food. So, plan to eat before or after your show. And, be aware that drinks can be pretty pricey, so you may want to pace yourself.

Enjoy Your First Broadway Show

With these tips, you’ll have a wonderful time at your first Broadway show. Just don’t make it your last one!
