Conceived in 2009 by media entrepreneur Steven Brill and former Wall Street Journal publisher Gordon Crovitz, Press+ has more than 370 newspaper, magazine and online-only Affiliates around the world who have launched their paid content initiatives on its revenue platform. Among them include several of the largest U.S. and Canadian newspaper publishing companies: MediaNews Group, Tribune Company, GateHouse Media, McClatchy, Lee Enterprises, and Postmedia. The company was sold to RR Donnelley in 2011, with Brill and Crovitz continuing as co-CEOs.
No one can point to any quality journalism operation that depended only on ad revenue, that gave its content away for free, and thrived as a profitable, independent business. Not one. Ever. We’re offering newspaper and magazine publishers a chance to work with us to reclaim their old business model — in which a combination of advertising and reader-paid revenue secures independent journalism.
Our goal is to develop custom programs that drive revenue, while at the same time preserving and even enhancing advertising and circulation goals.
Websites can engage a core percentage of their visitors and convince them to pay for full access to the content they value, and we make it easy and effective for them to do so. We offer flexible, revenue-driving models and subscription packages, and our team gets deeply involved with each Affiliate to understand their business and strategy so we can help them to make the right decisions. Visit our special section for Publishers for details.
Our e-commerce engine lets readers purchase content on any of our Affiliate sites with a single account. Simultaneously, we work with our Affiliates to ensure they maintain precious page views as they continue to support advertising revenue.
